Dr. Nripen Saikia

Dr. Nripen Saikia is a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in New Delhi, where he is currently associated with the Pushpawati Singhania Hospital & Research Institute (PSRI). He can also be met by appointment at his private clinic in Saket. With an MD in Medicine and a DNB (Diplomate of the National Board) in Medical Gastroenterology, he specialises in Gastroenterology and Hepatology. He has been practising professionally since 2008.

After completing his MD, Dr. Saikia was posted as Senior Registrar in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, from June 2002 to July 2004. He then studied and trained for the next three years at Pushpawati Singhania Hospital and Research Institute, for the DNB exam.

In November 2007, Dr. Saikia joined the Department of Medical Gastroenterology at Sanjivani Hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam, where he spent a year as Consultant. In November 2008, he moved to his current assignment at PSRI, where he is designated Senior Consultant, Medical Gastroenterology.

Dr. Nripen Saikia is proficient in independently performing all the diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic, colonoscopic and ERCP procedures. He is also familiar with single balloon enteroscopy and has recently been involved with diagnostic and EUS guided FNA and pancreatic pseudocyst drainage. His responsibilities also include managing GI and hepatology emergencies, and critical care patients admitted under his care. The department has an active DNB post-doctoral programme and he has been entrusted with coordinating the teaching and research-related activities of the programme.

In addition to his clinical commitments, Dr. Nripen Saikia has published research-based papers, case reports and reviews in several prominent peer-reviewed journals. He has also made presentations at conferences connected with his field. In addition, he has been involved in organising journal clubs and seminars for post-doctoral trainees in Gastroenterology, and conducting bed-side teaching for the trainees.
